Troy Lee Dobbs, Sr.

May 19, 1933 - December 24, 2021

Graveside service for Troy Lee Dobbs, Sr. ,88, of Piedmont will be Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Piedmont Memory Gardens with Dr. Kevin Payne officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from noon until 1:45 at Thompson Funeral Home. Mr. Dobbs passed away Friday, December 24, 2021 at Nolan Hospital. He is survived by his son, Troy Lee Dobbs, Jr. (Susan) of Auburn; granddaughters, Brittney Dobbs Kimber (Cary) of Auburn and Kristin Dobbs Thompson (Joshua) of Rome, Georgia; two great-grandsons arriving soon and and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Alvin Lewis, Steve Kines, Steven Collier, Randy Dempsey, Brian Dempsey and Tom Fry. Mr. Dobbs was a member of Piedmont First United Methodist Church and the Frank Wofford Sunday School Class. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a Korean War Veteran. He retired from Rome Plow with over 50 years of service. Mr. Dobbs enjoyed gardens, working with his hands and was able to fix anything. He enjoyed being around people and always made you feel at home when you stopped in for a visit. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Nellie Formby Dobbs; parents, Lewis and Rosa Dobbs; one brother, Hollis Dobbs and one sister, Imogene Collier. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to Piedmont First United Methodist Church, 300 North Main Street, Piedmont, AL 36272 or to the Piedmont Rescue Squad, PO Box 333, Piedmont, AL 36272.
