Graveside service with military honors for Samuel L. Parker, Sr.,73, of Piedmont will be Monday, October 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Cemetery with Paul Smith officiating. Mr. Parker passed away October 17, 2019 in Calhoun County.Pallbearers will be the Honor Guard of the United States Army. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Parker, Andrew Parker, Jessie Parker, Harold Knowles, Cody Ledbetter, and Zachary Wilkinson. Mr. Parker is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Anna Parker; children, Roswitha Knowles (Rooster) of Middleburg, FL, Samuel L. Parker, Jr (Lisa) of Anniston, and Sandra Parker (Cody) of Piedmont; grandchildren, Kimber Heard, Donnie Parker (Kimberly), Andrew Parker, Anna Wilkinson (Zachary), Taylor Leverette and Jessie Parker; two great granddaughters, Alizabeth and Noah Jane; multiple sisters and brothers and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Parker was a native of Santa Rosa County, Florida and had been a resident of Piedmont for the past 31 years. He retired from the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant with twenty years of service. He enjoyed hunting ,fishing, was an avid Alabama fan and raised and trained German Shepherds . He and his wife, Anna co-owned a trucking company . Mr. Parker loved his family and adopted and raised three of his grandchildren . He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Exie Parker.
