Mrs. Rachel Windham Gattis, 80, passed away on May 11, 2022, at her home in Jacksonville, Alabama. Rachel was born on February 22, 1942, to Oscar and Elmer Holley Windham in Tippah County, Mississippi. She loved her family, friends, and traveling. She was a member of Nances Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, Piedmont, AL, on Saturday, May 14, 2022 with the Rev. Garry Brown officiating. Visitation at 1:00 pm and service at 2:00 pm. Rachel is survived by her husband, of sixty three years, Thomas Terrell Gattis, of Jacksonville, AL; daughter, Teressa Gattis Pawlik of Homewood, AL; and son, David Terrell Gattis (Jenny) of Jacksonville, AL; four grandchildren, Kevin Michael Pawlik, Jr (Anna) of Homewood, AL, Joshua Kenneth Terrell Pawlik (Elise) of Huntsville, AL, Abigail Grace Gattis and Rachel Nicole Gattis, both of Jacksonville, AL; six great -grandchildren, Tripp, Miller Grace, and Thomas Pawlik of Homewood, AL and Hazel, Maeve, and Tali Pawlik of Huntsville, AL; sister, Lola Windham Hurt of Ripley, MS; brother, Joe Wade Windham of Germantown, TN; sisters-in-law, Betty Gattis Windham and Marie Bryan; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Elmer Windham; in-laws, Thomas and Clara Gattis; sister, Mae Windham Bennett; and brothers, Leland, Robert, Wayne and Artie Windham. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
