Norris Edison "Poppy" Parker

Funeral services for Norris Edison "Poppy" Parker, 81, of Piedmont will be Friday, March 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Holiness Church with the Rev. Bruce Johnson officiating and Thompson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Holiness Church. Mr. Parker passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his home. Survivors include his wife, Roma Joyce Parker of Piedmont; two sons, Dennis Parker of Ohatchee and Scott Parker of Piedmont; two daughters, Kathy Hassett (Bill) of Vincent and Nancy McCurdy (Terry) of Piedmont; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter, Autumn Hulsey. Pallbearers will be Tyler McCurdy, Dusty McCurdy, Joshua Green, Dillon Parker, Austin Hulsey, Brandon Chambers, Matthew Parker and Caleb Parker. Mr. Parker was a Calhoun County native, attended Pleasant Valley Holiness Church, retired from M&H Valve, was a U.S.Army veteran and was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and five sisters.
