Lovie Lelia Adkison Kirkpatrick, 87, of Piedmont, had a given name Lovie that expressed the love in her heart for all those she knew and those who knew her. A lifetime Piedmont resident, she died peacefully in the early morning hours of Oct. 19, 2012 at her home.Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at Thompson Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Oct. 21, 2012 with the Rev. Jerry Pike officiating. Additional speakers will be grandson Joey Vann Kirkpatrick and son-in-law Larry Davis. Burial will be immediately following at Piedmont Memory Gardens with Thompson Funeral Home directing.Mrs. Kirkpatrick was born Aug. 15, 1925 to parents Marion Frank Adkison and Minnie Belle Hart Adkison in rural Calhoun County, Ala. She was an avid lover of gardening and fishing at Weiss Lake in Centre. In addition to Mrs. Kirkpatrick taking great pleasure in being a wife, a mother, and homemaker, she worked outside the home at Steward's 5-and-10 variety store and Lawtex in Piedmont. She was also a member of Northside Baptist Church in Piedmont. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Mr. James Lawrence Kirkpatrick Jr., son Jerry Wayne Kirkpatrick, and grandson Wayne Kirkpatrick. Also preceding her in death were brothers Duncan Adkison and Robert Adkison. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was the last surviving sister of her family, which included Lillie Adkison Prevett, Annie Adkison, Alma Adkison, and two unnamed infant sisters.Mr. and Mrs. Kirkpatrick were married on July 14, 1941 in Spring Garden, Ala. Their marriage lasted 69 years until Mr. Kirkpatrick's death on Feb. 25, 2011. Their marriage produced four children, 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.Mrs. Kirkpatrick is survived by children James Ronnie Kirkpatrick and wife Helen of Piedmont, Joe Vann Kirkpatrick of Centre, Peggy Joyce Kirkpatrick Fagan-Davis and husband Larry of Hueytown.Surviving grandchildren include Sheila Kirkpatrick, Kelia Kirkpatrick Maddox and husband Shane, Joey Kirkpatrick and wife Caroline, Crystal Kirkpatrick Langston and husband Mike, Jerrod Kirkpatrick and wife Beth, Justin Kirkpatrick and wife Lindsay, Josh Kirkpatrick, Brandon Fagan and Shannon Fagan.Surviving great grandchildren include Shanna Craven, Ryan Boswell, Tyler Boswell, Kelsey Chandler, Andrew Prince, Joshua Strickland, Piper Kirkpatrick, Marin Kirkpatrick, Keaton Kirkpatrick, Brett Langston, Derek Langston, Ethan Kirkpatrick, Isaac Kirkpatrick, Isabella Kirkpatrick, Anabella Kirkpatrick, and Jackson Kirkpatrick. Pallbearers will be grandsons Joey Vann Kirkpatrick, Jerrod Kirkpatrick, Justin Kirkpatrick, Joshua Kirkpatrick, Brandon Fagan, Shannon Fagan, Andrew Prince and Joshua Strickland.The family would like to express its appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Russell D.
