Larry Gene Harrell

Funeral services for Larry Gene Harrell, 65, of Piedmont will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Matthews and the Rev. Garry Brown officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Harrell passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012 at his home. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Melba Jo Harrell; two sons, Larry Joe Harrell (Melissa) of Pleasant Valley and Marty Harrell (Rebecca) of Rock Run; four granddaughters, Andrea Ooten (Adam) and Haley Harrell all of Pleasant Valley, Kristin Harrell and Peyton Harrell both of Rock Run; one grandson, Noah Harrell of Rock Run; one sister, Joan Williams of Jacksonville; two brothers, Cecil Harrell (Wilma) and Ellis Harrell (Elaine) all of Centre; special friend, Pam Cambron; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jeff Smith, Scott Collier, Adam Ooten, Johnny Barnes, Brent Cooper, Johnny Howard and Corey Keller. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his former Cedar Springs Junior High School basketball team. Mr. Harrell was a resident of Piedmont most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith and was employed at Anniston Army Depot for 28 years. He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Baylee Ooten; his parents, Emmett & Cora Harrell; and two sisters.
