Joseph "Joe" Vann Marshall

Memorial Services for Joseph (Joe) Vann Marshall, age 78, of Piedmont, Alabama will be Wednesday, June 27, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Piedmont, AL with Reverends Michael Ingram and Don Neal officiating. Eulogies will be given by family members. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Mr. Marshall passed away June 23, 2018 at Stringfellow Hospital, Anniston, AL. He is survived by his sister, Moena Westbrooks; his wife of 49 years, Diane Marshall; their three children, Jason Marshall, Heather Marshall, Audrey Marshall Bentley; four loving grandchildren; and several near and dear nieces and nephews. Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ruth Lee Marshall and sister, Pansy Marshall. Mr. Marshall was a lifelong resident of Piedmont, Alabama. After graduation from Piedmont High School, he entered the United States Air Force and served his country during the Viet Nam War. After 8 years of military service, he was employed as a Quality Inspector at Anniston Army Depot and retired with 32 years of service. Mr. Marshall was then an employee for Dynamic Security for an additional 21 years. In his youth he was an accomplished drag racer of both cars and motorcycles. Mr. Marshall had ingenious abilities in the fields of carpentry, auto mechanics and aircraft (both life size and miniature). In his later years he remained a dedicated fan of racing and American Western movies. His close knit family was very important to him and he will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Piedmont, 105 N. Main Street, Piedmont, AL 36272.
