John Coppock Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral services for John Coppock, 83, of Piedmont will be Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Barbara Mosley, the Rev. Angela Teel, son, Ray Coppock and daughter, Debora Drake officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Coppock passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Piedmont Health and Rehab Center. Survivors include his wife, Gaynelle Pope Coppock; one son, Ray Coppock (Sue) of Ft. Valley, Georgia; two daughters, Carol Michenzi (Ted) of Casper, Wyoming and Debora Drake (Alan Smith) of Tampa, Florida; two grandsons, Steven Coppock (Roni Ann) of Haughton, Louisiana and Jeremy Coppock(Amanda) of Pikeville, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Aaran Drake of Tampa, Florida and Anna Michenzi of Casper, Wyoming; five great grandchildren, Tyler and Hannah Coppock, Kylee and Jace Coppock and Logun Michenzi Brown; and one sister, Avis Watson of Warrior. Pallbearers will be Steven Coppock, Jeremy Coppock, Alan Smith, Ted Michenzi, Ray Coppock and Ron Childs. Honorary pallbearers will be the Union Grove Sunday School Class and Aaran Drake and Anna Michanzi. John was born in Jacksonville and was a resident of Piedmont. He was a member of the Union Grove United Methodist Church at Rock Run. He was in construction for 47 years building bridges and commercial buildings and was a member of the carpenter's local for many years. His hobbies included hunting (Herbs) Ginseng and arrowheads. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Carrie Sparks Coppock; and three brothers, Earnest, Sam and Luther Coppock. The family wishes to thank everyone for their kindness and a special thanks to Dr. Brunda Revanna and Staff, Dr. Rosen and Staff and the Piedmont Health and Rehab Center.
