Jewel Albea Tarnow

June 29, 1926 - October 16, 2021

Funeral service for Jewel Albea Tarnow, 95, of Piedmont will be Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at Thompson Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Payne, Mr. Jimmy Tompkins, and Mr. Jonathan Tompkins officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Mrs. Tarnow passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Piedmont Health Care Center. Survivors include one son, Jeffrey Tarnow of Eastaboga; one brother, Melvin Albea; nieces and nephews, Melissa Bostwick (Brett) of Louisiana, Sue Albea of Louisiana; Jimmy Tompkins (Melea) of Tennessee, Jonathan Tompkins (Lori) of Alabama, and Jennifer Crutchfield (Chris) of Alabama; and several great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Mrs. Tarnow was a resident of Piedmont, a graduate of Piedmont High School where she was a majorette, and was a member of Piedmont First United Methodist Church. She met her late husband, Mike, at Fort McClellan, who served in the Armed Forces, and they moved to New York where she resided for many years before returning home to Piedmont. Mrs. Tarnow was a smart, strong, determined, and disciplined lady who devoted and dedicated her life to caring for her two disabled sons. She loved coffee and sweets and enjoyed visiting with the residents at the nursing home. Mrs. Tarnow loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Tarnow; son, Tommie Tarnow; parents, Havis and Pearl Albea; brothers, Glenn Ray Albea, Gerald Albea, and Norris Albea; sisters, Mary Alice Albea and Judy Tompkins; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Rainbow Omega, P.O. Box 740, Eastaboga, AL 36260. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Piedmont Health Care Center for the love and care Mrs. Tarnow received and the family would especially like to express their gratitude to Carol Paris, who lovingly and joyfully carried out her role as both guardian and angel to Aunt Jewel over the last season of her life.
