Jan Schoonhoven Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral service for Jan Schoonhoven, 90, of Piedmont will be Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until time of service. Mr. Schoonhoven passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at his home. He is survived by his son, Jerome Schoonhoven (Edna) of Piedmont; two daughters, Brenda Mitchell (Joseph) of Georgia and Kathy Cross (Randy) of Washington; 15 grandchildren, Lisa Harvey (Kevin), Joseph Mitchell II (Katey), Steven Doster (Elka), Adam Doster (Jamie), Christy Taylor (Joshua), Amanda Doster, Kasondra Burns (Chris), Brandon Cross (Jessica), Marissa Naylor, Joshua Cross, Jerome Schoonhoven, Jr (Carley), Aaron Schoonhoven (Stephanie),Leann Rochester (Jamie), Cody Wright and Jessica Johnson. 26 great-grandchildren; two great - great grandchildren; one sister; two brothers and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Schoonhoven was born in Oosterwolde, Holland and had been a resident of Piedmont since 1976. He was a member of Jacksonville Church of Christ. He was a retired landscaper and truck driver. He had a heart of adventure and he and his wife, Jean, loved to travel. Mr. Schoonhoven loved his family and he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He was happiest spending time with his family and being outdoors in the sunshine. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Esma Jean Schoonhoven; his daughter, Linda Fay Doster; parents, Tunnis and Johanna Schoonhoven; and three siblings.
