Howard Lee Taylor

Funeral services for Howard Lee Taylor, 76, of Piedmont will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Floyd Willis, the Rev. Ricky Doyal and the Rev. David Paslay officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Taylor passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Survivors include eight children, Wanda Kirk (Danny) of Piedmont, Shelia McCarley (Ladon) of Centre, Dianne Anthony of Piedmont, Darlene Cook of Piedmont, Theresa Ledbetter (Mike) of Spring Garden, Derrell Taylor of Centre, Tammy Maddox (David) of Piedmont and Kelly Taylor (Nathan) of Centre; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters, Myrtis Atkins (Larry) of Piedmont and Rubye Harbin (Jerry) of Tuscaloosa; one brother, George Taylor (Peggy) of Piedmont; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Adam Maddox, Andrew Maddox, Cody Holbrooks, Tommy Lovett, Seth Neyman and Jamie Thacker. Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of Piedmont and retired from Iron Workers of the Tennessee Valley Local 704. He loved to drag race and was a loving father and paw paw. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sonya Stephens Taylor, by an infant son, David Lee Taylor, a granddaughter, Sherry Kirk, his parents, Arlie and Kathleen Taylor, two brothers and two sisters.
