Graveside service for Fred Clay, Jr, 82, of Piedmont will be Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Piedmont Memory Gardens with the Rev. Tommy Ledbetter officiating. Mr. Clay passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Cherokee County Health and Rehab. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Jeanette Clay; two sons, Terry Clay of Piedmont and Darryl Clay (Dana) of Borden Springs; three grandchildren, Jonathon Propes, Joshua Propes, and Marley Propes; one great grandson, Hunter Propes; one sister, Sherry Cash (Donald) of Rabbittown; three nephews, Lane Cash, Conner Cash, and Wyley Ledbetter; two nieces, Kassidy Ledbetter and Kristi Ledbetter; and fur baby, Midnight. Pallbearers will be Wade Sprouse, Kenneth Thomas, Winston Smith, Hoyt Brown, Mikey Carroll, and George Scroggins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donald Cash and Lane Cash. Mr. Clay was a longtime resident of Calhoun County, a member of Goshen United Methodist Church, and was a United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed gardening and loved to work. He was happiest when he was working. He enjoyed talking to people and never met a stranger. Mr. Clay was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Clay, Sr. and Dallas Wood; two brothers; and three sisters. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, Florida 33607, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or to a charity of choice. The family requests for everyone to wear a mask and maintain a distance of 6 feet.
