Bobby Ray Buchanan Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Services for Bobby Ray Buchanan, 74, of Piedmont, formerly of Arab, will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Brother Ashley Penton officiating. Burial will follow in Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until time of services. Mr. Buchanan passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at RMC Jacksonville. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Buchanan (Wanda) of Joppa and Ray Buchanan of Tennessee; two step-children, Barbara Lane (Billy) and David McCurdy (Sheila), all of Piedmont; four grandchildren, Joshua Buchanan, Nicholas Buchanan, Adara Leigh Henry and Dakota Ray Buchanan; six step-grandchildren, Tony Flack, Brandon Callahan, Justin McCurdy, Priscilla McCurdy, Karen Lane and Wade Horne; and numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Edna Roe and Virginia Medlock (Jonathon), all of Arab; two brothers, Gene Buchanan (Fay) and Roy Buchanan (Pat), all of Arab and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tony Kiser, Clint Hill, Kevin Hann, Jeffrey Callahan, Tony Flack and Jonathon Medlock. Mr. Buchanan had been a resident of Piedmont for the past seven years and a member of Goshen Valley Baptist Church.He was a former member of the Alabama National Guard where he served as a drill instructor and retired from construction. Mr. Buchanan was a hard worker and enjoyed hunting and fishing and helping people in need. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Isom Buchanan, his second wife , Mildred Kiser Buchanan, his son, Mike Buchanan; parents, Oliver and Delia Buchanan; two sisters, Doris Chapman and Nell Bright and one brother, J.C. Buchanan.
