Betty Lou Treadway Thacker

November 13, 1937 - November 22, 2020

Funeral service for Betty Lou Treadway Thacker, 83, of Piedmont will be Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jo Lane Kirk and Chaplain Joel Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Thacker passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020. Survivors include her five children, Teresa Thacker of Piedmont, Ronnie Thacker of Centre, John Allen Thacker (Kay) of Piedmont, Danny Ray Thacker of Spring Garden, and Charles Edward Thacker (Samantha) of Piedmont; six grandchildren, Jessica Hindman (Buddy), Emy Ray (Timmy), Kristy Jackson (Jeremy), Michele Green, Matt Thacker (Janelle), and Morgan Thacker; one step grandson, Wesley Buttram; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Ann Sanger (Luke) of Mt. Hope, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Buddy Hindman, Timmy Ray, Johnathan Hindman, Will Hindman, Matt Thacker, Dalton Green, Jeremy Jackson, Landon Gowens, and Jimmy McCurdy. Mrs. Thacker was born and raised in West Virginia and was a coalminers daughter. She married at the age of 19 and was stationed in Germany for three years. Mrs. Thacker had been a resident of Piedmont for 50+ years. When she was 20 years old, she worked as a housewife and then worked 30+ years as a cook at Foodland and Myricks Grocery Stores. She loved to cook, make scarfs, embroidering, and playing Bingo. She enjoyed listening to Loretta Lynn. Mrs. Thacker was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thacker; great grandson, Braylon Ray; parents, Les and Eva Treadway; one brother, Gary Lee Treadway and a daughter-in-law, Nancy McCurdy Thacker.
