Alan Trent Penny Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

A Celebration of Life for Alan Trent Penny, 60, of Piedmont will be Friday, March 04, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Howard officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Trent passed away Monday, February 28, 2022 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Survivors include one daughter, Kaylann Nicole Penny; one son, Jeremy Joe Penny (Kelli); two grandchildren, Madelyn Penny and Chase Penny; parents, Basil and Mary Ann Penny; mother of his children, Norma Penny; sister, Michele Penny Williams (Rod); niece, Lindsey Williams Straits (Tyler); nephew, Jacob Williams; and granddogs, Barkley and Lu. Trent was a lifelong resident of Piedmont and had attended the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. He retired from the Anniston Star with 38 years of service where he started out in the press room and retired as Chief Photographer. He owned and operated Penny Photography and enjoyed keeping up with sports. He called himself an amateur meteorologist. He always kept an eye on the weather and would be the first to alert the family of any bad weather. Trent loved the University of Alabama football, going to the beach, and spending time with his family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Atlanta, 600 Celebrate Life Pkwy, Newnan, GA 30265.
