Ray L. Glover

Funeral service for Ray L. Glover, 90, of Piedmont, will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Byford officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Mr. Glover passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at his home. He is survived by his children, Rick Glover (Vickie) of Piedmont and Becky Patterson (Joe) of Hokes Bluff; five grandchildren, Jessica Rhinehart (Johnny), Matt Glover (Magan), Caleigh Jane McGatha (Darrin), Hunter Amberson (Amber), and Peyton Amberson (Amber); and ten great-grandchildren: Jacob Rhinehart, Lucas Rhinehart, Jaycee Glover, Nick Glover, Zack Rhinehart, Griffin McGatha, Liam McGatha, Ryan Amberson, Memphis Amberson, and Mallory Kate Amberson. Pallbearers will be Matt Glover, Jake Rhinehart, Luke Rhinehart, Nick Glover, Hunter Amberson, Peyton Amberson, Johnny Rhinehart, and Zack Rhinehart. Mr. Glover was a native and lifelong resident of Piedmont. He was a 1955 graduate of Piedmont High School, where he excelled at football, basketball, and track. In 2018, he was inducted into the Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from the Anniston Army Depot with over 30 years of service, where he served as the Assistant Fire Chief and also worked with the security force. Mr. Glover was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Piedmont, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. As an adult, he enjoyed playing tennis and pickleball and was active in the PARD Masters Sports League. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Charlene S. Glover; his parents, Thad and Bernice Glover; and two brothers, Paul Glover and Bobby Glover. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions may be made to the Piedmont Education Trust, 502 Hood Street W, Piedmont, AL 36272. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Southern Care Hospice, Brittany Bennett, and Stacey Bullock for the excellent care they provided for Mr. Glover.
