Mack Maddox

Funeral service for Mack Maddox, 80, of Spring Garden will be Thursday, December 05, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Byrian Watts, Rev. Garry Brown, and Rev. Rodney Ragsdale officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mack passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, exactly eight years to the day that his wife, Jane passed away. Survivors include his children, Keith Maddox (Ava) of Rock Run Station, David Maddox (Tammy) of Vigo, Deborah Spoon (David) and Greg Maddox (Leah), all of Spring Garden; eight grandchildren, Adam Maddox (Raven), Andrew Maddox (Jamie), Baylee Spoon Pope (Jonathan), Jasper Jenkins, Jackson Maddox, Lukas Maddox, Grant Maddox, and Sallie Maddox; three great grandchildren, Lawson Maddox, Joleigh Kate Maddox and Kennedy Jane Pope; sister-in-law, Hazel Maddox of Possum Trot and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Keith Maddox, David Maddox, Greg Maddox, David Spoon, Adam Maddox, Andrew Maddox, Lukas Maddox, and Jackson Maddox. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Kiser, Art Ingram, Rodney Ragsdale, Dennis Ragsdale, Ted Acker, and Doug Rosser. Mack was a lifelong resident of Spring Garden and a 1962 graduate of Spring Garden High School. He was a member of Grace Tabernacle Ministries and retired from General Electric with 32 years of service. After retirement he worked for Piedmont Outdoor for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid University of Alabama football fan. Most of all he was Spring Garden's top sports enthusiast, and was always at all the games. He and buddies, Harvey and Art could be found on the front row of the bleachers cheering on their team. He was just as important to the kids at Spring Garden as they were to him. Mack was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jane Maddox; parents, Luther and Mildred Maddox and a brother, Billy Maddox. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Spring Garden Tip off Club, 2430 County Road 29, Piedmont, AL 36272.
