Beth Rhodes Stone

Memorial service for Beth Rhodes Stone, 60 of Piedmont will be Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Piedmont First United Methodist Church with Dr. Michael Burgess and Rev. Tommy Ledbetter officiating. Pat Kirk will deliver the eulogy. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 -3:00 pm at the church. Beth passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2023. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Danny Stone; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Savannah Stone; cousin, Jeanette Griffith; aunt, Patsy Hill (Phillip); and niece, LaCindra Bowman and family; special friends, David and Kim Ivey, Pat and Tammy Kirk, Charles “Bones” and Samantha Thacker, Tommy and Gay Ledbetter, Jacee Smith and family and all the residents of the Piedmont Dugger Mountain Assisted Living. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lynne Rhodes; grandmother, Mary Stewart; aunt, Virginia Dothard; and her uncle, Robert Bedwell. Beth was a lifelong resident of Piedmont and a graduate of Piedmont High School “Class of 1981”. Beth worked in the banking business for 25 years. She was active in many of Piedmont’s civic affairs and events such as the Piedmont Arts Council that sponsored the annual arts and crafts shows, the Christmas parade, and the Cheaha Challenge. She was also a member of the Lions Club. Beth would volunteer at the Civic Center and it was during this time that she met Danny Stone, director of the Parks and Recreation Department and they began dating. They married on September 30, 1995. Beth was a member of the Piedmont First United Church, a member of the Frank Wofford Sunday School Class, a past leader with the Wonderful Wednesday Children’s group, a VBS leader and she was also active in the Shared Bounty Ministry. She had formerly served as a youth leader at Bethel United Methodist Church. Beth enjoyed going to antique shops and yard sales. She loved her family with all her heart and enjoyed telling you about them. Beth was employed at Dugger Mountain Assisted Living where she served as activities director. In Lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church ,300 North Main Street, Piedmont, AL, 36272.
